Drinks for poker night
What to drink at a poker night? Like so many other events, poker also have their drinks, which tradition you should drink when you’re playing poker. But how come that precisely these drinks have been known to be enjoyed for a game of poker? It’s something we’ve tried to find out. But before we can to that, you have to know which drinks and products which are traditionally associated with poker.
among other drinks, we have:
- Martini
- Vesper Martini
- Manhatten
- Monte Carlo
- Negroni
- Old fashioned
- Gin og Tonic
Similarly, we have by the Beer products, Heineken, which has been known to be the beer you drink during a game of texas holdem.
Common for all drinks is that it is classic cocktails, and especially those men are most to. However, since poker is most immediately a male thing, so maybe not so strange;)
Not surprisingly, the film industry means a lot when it comes to defining what drinks are in – from James Bond’s Dry Martini to Cosmopolitan in Sex and the City. One can thus often see James Bond drink a Dry Martini to a game of poker with the evil villains. It should be kept low with the alkocol, if you go for victory in the game – all the classic cocktail has very high alcohol content.
There are countless variations of Martini, and in each of the James Bond movies, ducks a new version of the classic variant up. The newest addition is the Vesper Martini, which dates back to 1953 when Casino Royale novel was written. However, it was first after the movie came out, that it got its right debut.
Vesper Martini:
- 3 cl Gordon’s Gin
- 1 cl Vodka
- 1/2 cl Kina Lillet
- Shake it properly
- Serve with a lemon peel
