Mount Gay Rum
Mount Gay Rum is produced by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd. at Barbados, at the easternmost island of the West Indies. Mount Gay Rum is with its oldest surviving deed from 1703 the oldest existing brand of rum in the world. Rémy Cointreau is the current parent company of Mount Gay.
Mount Gay Rum is across the world being sold in 66 countries, but its primary export market being the United States.
In many years of its existence, Mount Gay Rum has been Closely associated with sailing and has been the preferred rum among sailors.
On its famous bottle label there is a little red star on the image of the island on Mount Gay Rum which represents the capital of Barbados, Bridgetown, not the location of the distilleries, which is actually in the northern part of the island.
There are Several varieties of Mount Gay Rum produced, including: White, Extra Old, flavored (Vanilla or Mango), as well as the flagship brand: Mount Gay Eclipse.”
Mount Gay are also producing a “Pure Sugar Cane Rum”, occasionally known outside of the U.S. market as “Sugar Cane Brandy”.
